A carefully arranged pompon, made of multiple tiers of white flattened hollow tubes, is crowned by two serrated green leaves and a tightly closed bud and blooms on a gently curved green stem along with two additional opposing leaves. The flower floats elegantly over a striking tomato red double-swirl latticinio cushion. "The tomato coloring of the ground is achieved with a translucent coating of red glass above and beneath the opaque white latticinio, rather than a color coating of the individual latticinio strands." -Glass Paperweights of the New-York Historical Society. A white floret, ringed in cobalt blue, is at the core of a complex center cane of pale green and white tube cogs and a ring of more white florets in blue. The complex cane is encircled by a ring of similar canes, this time with salmon-cored white tubes on the periphery, followed by a ring of white ogee-tipped sawmill canes, with small red star cores and, finally, a ring of white florets, ringed in salmon, encircled by salmon-cored white tubes with an outer layer of translucent green. Alternating white sawmill canes and salmon-colored complex tube canes are pulled downward into a stem for the concentric mushroom tuft. Blue and white twist torsade over a clear, star-cut ground. Fine condition. Diameter 2 13/16".
