Alexis Magaro
|
Alexis has been a member of the arts community in Europe for many years and is fluent in English, French, Italian and German. She has a remarkable background. While studying English and Italian literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Alexis was discovered as a star soprano soloist. Upon completing her studies, she moved to Florence, Italy, and went on to take a series of prizes in competitions that spanned the country. She became the principle soloist at Opernhaus Halle in Germany and well known throughout Europe for performances which took her across the continent and to France, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic most notably. Opera Magazine wrote of one of her concerts, "her voice radiated in galvanized streams, tuned perfectly and deftly inflected by emotional nuance." The journey to paperweights began many years ago when she met the Clark family while living in Paris. The intriguing glass "boules" which had previously gone unnoticed suddenly came into focus and her curiosity was piqued. She recently returned to the United States with the specific goal of showcasing the visual arts within the European salon tradition, incorporating music and literature as well. The extraordinary European history of paperweights and their inherent beauty have made for a perfect match. Alexis’ love of art, her language skills and her joyful, optimistic personality have been a wonderful addition to the team. She is delighted to work with both new and experienced collectors and looks forward to building strong relationships with clients over the years to come. |
| Suzanne Schaefer

Suzanne began her career (and absorbing interest) in paperweights in 1993. During 17 years under the tutelage of Larry Selman she gained valuable knowledge, especially in the field of antique paperweights. Prior to the paperweight field, Suzanne was an art consultant and a director of fine art galleries. Suzanne is currently working from her home in California for L.H. Selman Ltd. as a consultant and Personal Curator for collectors of fine antique paperweights. She says, "I am especially grateful to the Clarks to have this opportunity to continue to share my expertise, and to help carry on the L. H. Selman tradition of quality and superior customer service." In her free time Suzanne enjoys creating fine art, dancing tango, traveling with her husband Joel and delving into all areas of art and philosophy. Her current study is learning Spanish, which will come in handy on her next trip to Argentina. |
