Lot 5
Rare antique Clichy scrambled millefiori with partial Clichy signature cane paperweight.

The piece contains a colorful array of whole and partial complex canes such as ruffle, star, cog, floret, bull's-eye and cross. Also included are numerous Clichy rose canes, both pink/green and white/pink, and an especially delightful and very rare complex rose cane with seven white and green roses around a pink and green rose. In addition, the weight displays four letters from the Clichy signature cane, "C CHY". "Cane colors are actually similar to those found in St. Louis and Baccarat. But cobalt blue is used sparingly, and opaque pink, brilliant deep aquamarine or medium thalo blue (not turquoise), warm cadmium green, ivory, lilac, and deep ruby or deep cherry red are seen in abundance, giving the weights a warmth and richness not found elsewhere. If Baccarat paperweights appear to be seen in shade, Clichy seem to be always in broad sunlight."-The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights. Minor surface wear. Diameter 3 1/8"

$8,500 - $13,000

Lot 6
Rare antique Baccarat flat bouquet faceted paperweight.

Rare antique Baccarat flat bouquet faceted paperweight, with a dazzling and rare floral group. A large central white buttercup forms the center, with a bundle of yellow star rods making up the stamen. It is flanked by two Type-I pansies, with shaded purple upper petals and a trio of cobalt blue and white arrowhead cane lower petals. The bouquet is crowned by a white double clematis, with a star cane center. A light green vine bearing a blue bud and green leaves entwines the central dark green stem. Six and one faceting. Star cut base. A broken stem below the clematis. "In contrast to the work of the other French factories, Baccarat produced conspicuously formal floral arrangements. These masterfully portrayed flowers combine to form a delightful garden. The millefiori cane sections that compose the bottom of the pansies indicate that this weight was produced in the early part of the classic period." -The Art of the Paperweight: Challenging Tradition. Diameter 3 1/8"
