Arranged in an open concentric pattern around the central rose cane are another all-white Clichy rose and a wide assortment of colorful traditional Clichy canes including an edelweiss cane, pastry mold canes, stardust canes, cog canes, and six-pointed star canes, in ruby, lilac, thalo blue, cobalt blue, Naples yellow, pink and white. "The ground of green moss dotted with stars and florets recalls the most charming of French Touraine tapestries of the XVIth century. It does not seem possible to achieve a higher expression of art on the road of paperweight making; one can well understand that a factory capable of producing pieces of such quality should have been given countless praise and endless admiration." Les Presse-Papiers Franais de Cristal, R. Imbert et Y. Amic, 1948, p.86. "Clichy utilized its moss ground in this weight to create the illusion of vibrant wildflowers on a green lawn. It is an extraordinary example of the factory's color vocabulary..." The Art of the PaperweightChallenging Tradition. "The most sought after, and undoubtedly the most striking, spaced millefiori are the moss green carpet grounds. The prize possessions of a few advanced collectors, these weights feature a ground of many small green canes contrasting jubilantly with the colorful spaced florets." Paperweights for Collectors.
